Farmington Falls

The house in Farmington was built in 1830. The current owner has been doing off and on renovations on the house for the past 20 years. The owner states he has seen a shadow figure of a young girl (he guesses around 12 years of age) coming out of one stall and going into another stall in his barn. The figure appears to be wearing a long dress. He generally sees the figure during the summer months around dusk. In the master bedroom the owner has also seen the figure of an older man dressed in overalls standing in front of the walk-in closet.

The original owner of the house was Joshua. He was married to Anne. Joshua died in 1920 and Anne in 1921, they are both buried across the street in the Farmington Falls Cemetery aka the Blake Cemetery. They had six daughters; Lottie, Hattie, Maude, Lina/Lena, Effie and Helen all found and traced through census and birth records. There is mention of a young girl named Margaret, listed on the 1910 census as a granddaughter but on the 1920 census she is listed as a daughter. Margaret is not listed on the 1930 census. None of the daughters found on future census records has Margaret living with them. There is no record for birth, marriage or death in Farmington for Margaret. She is not buried with any sisters and there is no evidence as to which daughter of Joshua’s she belonged. Margaret has disappeared.

Could the shadow figure that the owner has been seeing in the barn be Margaret?
